“Omule : Hi Hypno, can you tell me in a few words how everything started?”
“Hypno : Confused like all relationships...I was young, I needed money and I managed to go to a shooting. My first job was a mixture, I was the coffee boy and I did anything at first. I earned 15$ for the whole day, but I came back the next day and I never gave up. I went through all the departments and I’ve been a director for the last 10 years.”
“Omule : Can you remember some of your earliest influences? ”
“Hypno : Yes, I have a lot. From Star Wars to Billie Idol, Dirty Dancing, Shogun , just to point out some of the influences before 89’. Growing up, these have changed a bit. Jonathan Glazer had the biggest influence on me, I used to watch his videos on repeat on VHS.”
“Omule : What about today? ”
“Hypno : Everyday someone else surprises me, there are no longer stars in this industry. Everyday on Vimeo you can see an incredible video created by a no name. We are living the democracy of the video art and that’s the beauty of it. Anybody is able today to express themselves and some of them are doing a great job.”
“Omule : Who do you think is crushing it right now?”
“Hypno : I can pick a bunch : Marco Prestini, Megaforce, WeAreFromLA, Martin De Thurah.”
“Omule : New York. How was this experience?”
“Hypno : New York is such a big and cosmopolitan city, which will show you how many things you can learn and how many opportunities you have.It widens your mind. The module I attended at NYFA was an intense one, very hands on, that helped me understand some concepts that looked very hard in theory.”
“Omule : How about other beautiful places you’ve visited since you first started this journey?”
“Hypno : Advertising helped me a lot in this case. I managed to see a lot of unique places. A lot of them from an interesting point of view. I don’t think I could’ve seen them as a tourist. I would like to shoot in as many countries as possible. This way I can meet nice people, I can work with them and after a few weeks I can get a plane and join a new team from a different part of the word. I love being a freelancer.”
“Omule : I am sure you have seen a lot of movies and TV series. Do you have some all time favorites?”
“Hypno : Ah, there are a lot. Just to pick some names : In the mood for love, Tour de Pharmacy, Deer Hunter, Blade Runner, Narcos, Trust, Just Kidding ...”
“Omule : Who would you like to see in a movie directed by Guy Ritchie? ”
“Hypno : I’m not a fan to be honest.”
“Omule : Subcarpati, OCS, Jurjak, Deliric, Golan. Do you have something in the works? ”
“Hypno : I’ve just finished the second music video for Subcarpati. I’d love to do more in the near future.”
“Omule : Thinking about US, who would you like to work with?”
“Hypno : There are a lot of people I would like to work with ... mainly with those whose music makes me vibrate in one way or another.”
“Omule : What do you think about music festivals?”
“Hypno : I find it fantastic to go to a place where you can find in a short period of time (a few days, a week maximum) both music and information. I remember when we used to buy audio cassettes with albums or compilations ... now everything is a click away ...”
“Omule : What superpower would you like to have and why? If you had the power, what would you forbid?”
“Hypno : I would like to be Mister Google ... to know everything and when you want to ask me something to give you suggestions. I would not forbid anything because it’s good to be yourself, whatever you are.”
“Omule : What would be a great achievement for you?”
“Hypno : The present is ... about the future, I don’t know ... it would be a little bit perky for me to think I can schedule it ...”
