Omule : Hi Oscar, how would you describe your style?
Oscar : I always prefer to listen how others describe it, for me is kind of difficult to do it. But, If i have to say something, i will say that my style is the mix of japanese influences and mediterranean culture.
Omule : Where do you get your inspiration from?
Oscar : Most of my inspiration comes from Japan but i can’t forget my roots, that made me have my own vision of life.
Omule : What is your ideal creative environment like?
Oscar : I love to work at night with Radio podcast, coffee,... and don’t think about time. But also, I like to work in team projects, where I can share thoughts and learn from others.
Omule : Do you have any favorite artists from your industry?
Oscar : I have many,... Guy le tatooer, Ichibei, Xnaza, Joao Bosco, Kelly Violence, Water Street Phantom, Gakkin, El Uf.
Omule : Favourite place to go on a holiday.
Oscar : I like to see different places every time, I can’t choose one.
Omule : Five things you can’t live without.
Oscar : Music, Music, Music, Art, Paella.
Omule : Do you have any kind of creative patterns and routines ?
Oscar : I’m consuming and collecting images all the time. After a good reserch, I like to try to forget what I saw, and just try to do my thing. Never stopping with the first sketch...
Omule : What kind of books and movies do you like?
Oscar : I love sci-fi. Anything that shows me other visions of the world.
Omule : What superpower would you like to have and why?
Oscar : I want two actualy. The one that Batman has, I want to be super rich, just not to think about bills anymore, and be focused only on my art no matter what.
Also to fly, like Super Man. I always dream about having this kind of freedom.
Omule : What would be a great achievement for you?
Oscar : I’m living with the best achievement I can ask. And that is the support I get from all the people who like my work and help me continue this journey.
Omule : What do you like the most about your work ?
Oscar : I like everything about my work besides the moments when I’m blocked and I don’t find new ideas or motivations. One of the best things of being a tattooer is that you have a straight connection with your customers.
Omule : Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
Oscar : You. We can learn from each other, because everybody has something interesting to share.
Omule : What is your favourite kind of project?
Oscar : Now I’m super motivated by big projects. I would love to do some body suits. But is kind of hard to find people in Barcelona to do it.
Omule : Your favorite concerts so far and your favorite bands you didn’t manage to see live but you would love to.
Oscar : I’m a huge fan of Michael Jackson, and James Brown....
Omule : Do you have favourite documentaries series or podcasts?
Oscar : I’ve been consuming documentaries for years. I love to listen creative minds, no matter in witch area. Last thing I saw was the Abstract series on Netflix, I got really inspired by that.
Omule : Favorite places to visit and why?
Oscar : I’m a city rat, I love to visit cities and watch people routines. It Is weird to sit and watch how different we act from each other to the same inputs.
Omule : If you had the power, what would you forbid?
Oscar : I already have a power, I forget everything,My memory is very bad.
Omule : Can you remember some of your earliest influences?
Oscar : Greentech dancing!
Omule : Which of your projects has been most important to developing your personal style?
Oscar : My books. It Is a very important exercise to draw far from the customer’s ideas, and just play.
Omule : Would you say that keeping things simple is your strongest skill?
Oscar : Yes.I’ve been trying to draw with a lot of details for years, and I just felt frustrated. It was hard to see that I was happier when I kept it simple. We always forget that the best way to find ourselves is to stop and listen what we hide inside.
Omule : What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Oscar : Like a said earlier, listen to yourself. Don’t think about other people judgements.
Omule : What would you say to young/aspiring artists, to help them improve and find their way?
Oscar : Just keep pushing. I don’t believe in talented people, I believe in hard working and enjoying that!
Omule : Is there still a stigma attached to tattoos and tattooing?
Oscar : I think it’s starting to be a part of the past.
Omule : And what about techniques? Have techniques changed since you started tattooing?
Oscar : Everyone has his own way to do it, so with new styles everyone has to find a way to get the best results. So, yes,...it is changing every day.
Omule : What machines, inks and needles are you currently using?
Oscar : I have coils from Coko Fernandez, and I use Dan Kubin as well. About needlss, I’m using the cheapest on the market.
Omule : Do you like attending Tattoo conventions?
Oscar : I love it. I think that Is the best way to share information with other tattoo artists and customers at the same time.
